I'm lucky to be the new owner of a local area Midwest find. It's a near original 1983 GTI (I think I am the 5th or 6th owner). The original owner bought and installed the Stage 2 kit in January of 1984. The car came with ample documentation of the Callaway install, including the original installation manual and letters between the orignal owner and the guys at Callaway. It's kind of crazy to think in 1984 this poor guy had to trouble shoot his install by snail mail! The real kicker is the date of reply from Callaway was 9 months later

! Aside from the Callaway documents there are a slew of maintenance records and receipts. They are by no means complete, but still give a decent window into the past life of this car. I'm going through the receipts to find out exactly what was put on this car aside from the Turbo. The suspension is a mix of springs front to rear from what I can tell, so the ride height is low and has some rake to it. It rides really well and is a blast to drive.
I am new to MK1. My daily driver is a 2007 RS Rabbit. It has a few modifications, but nothing crazy. I have a similar post up in the MK1 forums on VWVortex.
My plans for this car are to keep it in stock form. In the short term I am going to take off the side skirts and investigate what little rust it has. This car is too close to original for it to be modified, some cars just need to be kept as is. I'll need help often, so any input is appreciated.
